Corie Campbell
Hello! I am so excited you found me and cannot wait to get started with you on your fitness journey. Here is a little background to help you get to know me and how Pure Joy Training began.
I am a wife and mother of two littles (ages 11 & 9). My husband and I have been married 15 years and were high school sweethearts. We both grew up in Canada and decided to move to the U.S. in 2011. Since then, we have lived in Tucson, Chicago, and have now settled here in Houston and could not be more excited to finally set down our roots in Texas.
My professional background is in business. Before I began Pure Joy Training I worked as a Spa Director for many years. After the birth of our second child I decided to leave the professional world to become a stay-at-home mom. What a blessing that was, as shortly thereafter we learned our oldest son (who was 2 at the time) has special needs. This diagnosis brought with it a whole new world of realities: doctors appointments, MRIs, EEGs, and a battery of diagnostic and genetic testing, insurance battles, therapy sessions and of course the label of “special needs parent.” It did not take long for me to learn that I could not be the wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend I needed to be in my own strength. I leaned into my faith, and decided I needed to get physically fit in order to have the energy, stamina, and clarity to prioritize all of these responsibilities.
I joined a bootcamp. This bootcamp changed my life. Not just the workouts, but the community of fitness that supported me, pushed me to be stronger, and encouraged me when I needed it.
God revealed strengths in me I did not know were there. A passion for fitness and nutrition and a desire to help others find joy through fitness. After becoming an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and ACE Nutrition Specialist, God slowly revealed His plan for Pure Joy Training. We are excited to bring you workouts inspired by those that pushed me, as well as one-on-one personal training and small group training in our studio gym setting.
After opening the studio, I realized that so many of my clients are suffering with chronic pain in their day-to-day lives. Pain that is keeping them from really enjoying the things that bring them joy. In order to be better equipped to help my clients overcome pain became a Corrective Exercise Specialist trained by the BioMechanics Method. Corrective Exercise is all about creating a progressive program of myofascial release techniques, stretching and strength training exercises to help realign the body and ultimately decrease chronic pain and/or dysfunction. This training is incorporated into all of my personal training sessions and programmed specifically for clients who are experiencing pain.
Since then, I have also become a PN Level 1 Certified Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition. Precision Nutrition has taught me some of the top Nutrition Coaching techniques that have been used by professional athletes and Olympians for years. One-on-one nutrition coaching will help us to identify which of these techniques are best for you and which ones we can implement to help you become a healthier stronger you.
Recently, we have launched our virtual training programs:
Pure Joy Teen - Pure Joy Active and Coming Soon … Pure Joy Strength! We are so excited to bring the personal training experience online, and love watching people find their strength.
Wherever you find yourself in your fitness journey, I would love to be part of helping you find your strength, both in and outside of the gym, and encourage you to push through challenges and discover the many things you can do but had told yourself were impossible. Let’s get started. Discover Pure Joy.
